Salting is the method of curing hides and skins from spoilage prior to carrying out the remainder steps of the tanning process. Salt-curing is widely known in the industry and applications can vary from dry-salting to immersing the hide in a brine solution. Cheetham strongly suggests that all hide salt is not for human or animal consumption, and it should be stored away from food.

Diamond Refined Hide 1% BASF
A dry, refined salt, this product is crushed, sieved and mixed with Boric Acid and Sodium Fluoride. Specifically manufactured for salting of hides, this product is strictly manufactured under good quality systems that comply with ISO9001.

Diamond Refined Hide 1¼% BASF
A dry, refined salt, this product is crushed, sieved and mixed with a slightly higher chemical level of Boric Acid and Sodium Fluoride.

Diamond Washed Hide 1% BASF
Double washed, sieved and mixed with 1% Boric Acide and 1% Sodium Fluoride. An average grainsize of 1.7mm, this product helps with the animal hide preservation.

Diamond Refined Hide 1½% BASF
This salt is sold to hide customers for recycling their waste within their system. High strength chemically treated salt is mixed with their waste to form useable salt LD.
