Our salt fields are located in regional areas of Australia, far away from large cities and pollution.

Our sites are natural bird sanctuaries and home to beautiful bird life, including the White-Breasted Hawk, Capricorn Yellow Chat, Pacific Golden and Grey Plover and the Short-billed Dowitcher.

Salt marshes are a part of coastal ecosystems that are important for the aquatic life, coastal protection, and the delivery of nutrients to coastal waters. They are found in sheltered areas along shorelines and are dominated by salt-tolerant plants, such as grasses, herbs, and low shrubs.  

All of the sea salt that we supply to our Australian and export markets is harvested from the clean and pure Antarctic and Pacific Oceans. 

We use a natural evaporative process to create a high quality, pure natural sea salt from clean water.

The Price (South Australia) and Bajool (Queensland) salt fields operate using this method.

Lake Tyrrell is a natural salt lake, located in Sea Lake. It is the largest natural salt lake in all of Victoria, Australia. It was formed as a result of the inundation of the Murray Darling basin, through the rising and retreating sea level.

The small township of Sea Lake is located inland and is approximately 370 kilometers northwest of Melbourne. Sea Lake's altitude is approximately 59 meters above sea level. The nearest coastline is the Southern Ocean, which is situated approximately 200 kilometres away. Sea lake is free from big cities and has pristine air because of it's beautiful location which is surrounded by natural landscape and agricultural land. 

Mermaid lake salt is a refined, inland lake salt (sodium chloride) suitable for human consumption and complies with the rigorous Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code.

Lake salt is produced at our Sea Lake site using natural solar evaporation of saline lake water. It is harvested, washed, dried, sized and packed in accordance with good manufacturing practice, under a quality system that complies with ISO9001 and CODEX HACCP food safety.

We can supply salt in a variety of packaging sizes, including drums/cannisters, retail bags through to bulk bags.

Our salt can be supplied in customer or Cheetham branded packaging (by negotiation). Our export specialists work with customers to supply salt to the specification required and in the best packaging configuration to support the end use.

In the instance that customers do not use their own branded packaging they may not use any of Cheetham’s Intellectual Property, trademarks, business names, designs, emblems, visual representations or slogans, or any trademarks, business names, designs, emblems, visual representations or slogans that are similar, identical to our resemble the Intellectual Property of Cheetham Salt Limited unless agreed in writing by Cheetham Salt Limited (whether or not they are likely to cause deception or confusion amongst the public).
